Juneteenth!

Image
Juneteenth, What is it? What were people learning or wanting to know about Juneteenth? There were lots of things people looked into about Juneteenth  included asking if it was a national or federal holiday, Juneteenth shirts, variety of different questions or statements to learn about the history behind Juneteenth, there are even questions if certain government business were going to be open (for example if the mail was going to be delivered), few things about the OPM, and general questions about US government officials had to offer to Juneteenth. There were a few things that were asked once that I was fascinated to learn about more. Something interesting to learn about was the history of the quote, "those who chose the sea Juneteenth." In general, looking at everything related to Juneteenth made me more fascinated about the history behind why Juneteenth is being celebrated or recognized today and why it should be continued to be celebrated to be recognized every year. Altho...

Diversify your library and your kid's library with this one website!!

Image
I came across this website a while ago for one of my classes. I was taking a children's literature class and the professor talked about how you want to have a variety, or diverse set, of books in your classroom library. I came across the website Social Justice Books . I found the website after my professor mentioned that and I talked about it for a project at the end of the semester. I found the website not only important for my classroom library but for my personal life. Social Justice Books is important for more people to recognize it. We need to read more books that are not so whitewashed. It can be important for adults to read more books that have a story about non-white, not cisgender, and overall apart of the LGBT+ community. Social Justice Books website has a variety of book lists that are continuing to grow and the website is easy to use as well. In each specific book list, it provides young kids or elementary age, middle level, young adult, and adult books as well. If you ...

Why the blog, Hopes, and Future of my blog

Image
Why did I start this blog and blogging in general?  Well, there are many reasons that I started blogging or want to blog now and for the future. I want to start blogging because of the fact that I have been wanting to start one for a while. I had started another blog, here, on Blogger earlier this year for one of my classes for my teaching degree. I also had a blog that I used for a couple of art classes while in high school which I have not used since 2017, about three years ago from when this was written. I wish I posted more of my art but never did and that blog is still up to this day. These blogs are the reasons that I actually wanted to create a blog that I would enjoy for myself and could creatively express myself. I wanted this blog to be somewhere I can talk about my life outside of teaching as well as an outlet for writing. I do enjoy writing very much and have not been able to write for a while now. Once I started that teaching blog, I wanted to write more about differen...

11 Things You May or May Not Know About Me.

Image
Hello everybody, welcome. I’ve decided to dedicate this post as an attempt to let you dear reader get to know myself, the writer, a bit more. I’m gonna be talking out about 11 facts about who I am as a person. If any of that interests you then feel free to stick around, get yourself a nice cup of tea or your preferred beverage, and enjoy! Friendly warning though, this post may be a bit longer than most, but I hope you guys still enjoy it.  1) I am majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Special Education. I know the first thought and questions most people have when I tell them my major is around the lines of do I understand how much little money there is in being a teacher. To that, I must say that I have more of a passion for teaching and this yearning for it. I know I won’t be a millionaire in this field but I’ve been inspired. Throughout my time in the K-12 system, I have had teachers that changed my life. They helped me when I needed it most and their example has led m...

Quarantine in March through May of 2020.

Image
Everyone has been dealing or coping with everything that has been going on recently. What are the ways that I have coped?  Personally, my typical day in my life during this Quarantine time as of Early May 2020. Day to Day is usually myself and my significant other will play a video game together after he is done with work. We will play until the game until late into the night until it is early morning. It also does not also help that he usually works until around 12 a.m. After we are done playing a game we usually sleep for most of the day until he has to get up and get ready for work. I would stay in bed for a little while longer and sometimes falling back to sleep for a little bit longer. When I was awake still in bed, I would spend a few hours a night working on schoolwork do to my University transitioning online for classes and not living in the dorms anymore. We transitioned to online learning at the end of March right end after Spring Break here in the United States and the s...

Hi! It's a been a minute!

I have not posted in a minute. Why have I been gone off this blog so long it for a few reasons. I have been gone because I have been really busy with school because everything went online and had more work than I did before or at least it felt like it at least. I  also had to deal with quickly moving out of my dorm at my university that I am currently attending at the end of spring break in mid-March. The COVID-19  has been causing a bit more stress than before it became a pandemic. I also am not able to currently work because of the lack of jobs do to most everything being close, restricted hours, and/or not able to have many employees at the moment. I also have had some issues trying to figure out what I want to write about. I have a few ideas of want I want to do for the next few months. I am feeling more motivated recently to write more and got more blog ideas coming up.  I know it has been a stressful time for everyone and I have been trying to figure out ways to try...

March 2nd Ramblings

3/2/2020 rambling: It is only Monday yet it has been a weird and stressful week. It is hard to explain why it is weird but it more just feels off and kind of strange. I also do not have one of my classes through on Wednesday and Friday but only had it today (Monday, March 2nd). That could be one of the reasons but who knows. The reason it feels stressful is that I have a project due tomorrow (Tuesday in this case) as well as a discussion board due tonight and respond to others by class time on Tuesday. I also have a few blog posts for a different blog due sometime on Tuesday as well as also responding to other people's blog posts. This should be interesting. I also have my first choir concert since high school next week that we are putting the final touches on Wednesday and next Monday. I should be working on my homework instead of typing up this blog post but I am not, this is a little bit more fun currently and taking off some of the stress I currently am feeling.  My week see...
